Beautycounter Countertime Line

Today, Beautycounter launched our most advanced and innovative skin care collection EVER! I am beyond excited to share some of the highlights about why my skin and our environment are loving this new collection.
Introducing Countertime! Here are some fun facts to get you started.

Truth, until now, retinol has been known as the anti-aging skin care game changer. Now, the same results without the side effects are found in our new Countertime Line.

Countertime Line from Beautycounter

Each product in the collection contains our patented Retinatural Complex, which is a powerful anti-aging and reparative combo of Bakuchiol and antioxidant-rich Swiss Alpine Rose. I can also share with you that the scent of the Alpine Swiss Rose is gorgeous. I actually want to put the cleansing oil all over, and the Countertime Prep Essence smells so good! The only downside, you will be addicted to the scent.

Bakuchiol vs Retinol

Bakuchiol has been shown to be just as effective in improving fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, skin firming and elasticity, and stimulating collagen production as retinol without the irritation or links to health concerns (dryness, flaking, sensitivity when combined with sun’s damaging rays, and shown to speed growth of skin tumors). The question now, why isn’t everyone using this line!

Beautycounter Countertime

I am also proud to share that Beautycounter will now be using more glass, something you have all been asking for. All of our new bottles are a beautiful dusted pink glass bottle. You will love using them before bed and right when you wake up! By using less plastic, we are reducing the line’s greenhouse gas footprint by 38%!

As always, we offer a 60-day money back guarantee, so if you don’t love it, Send it back. But I am sure you’ll love it! I immediately saw great results for my 46-year old skin!

Below are a few more facts about Retinol, why it is on our never list, and why you might want to switch over to our own plant derived retinatural complex. It will give you results comparable to Retinol without the side effects.

Why Are Retinol/Vitamin A and Its Derivatives on the Never List™?

Retinol/Vitamin A, and its derivatives—retinyl palmitate, retinyl acetate, retinyl linoleate, and retinyl propionate—are active cosmetic ingredients commonly used in anti-aging skin care, but they have links to health concerns which made them an early candidate for The Never List™. In addition, in order to be effective, retinol and its derivatives must convert into the active ingredient retinoic acid. Studies show that retinoic acid can have harmful side effects, including being a skin irritant and making the skin sensitive to the sun’s damaging rays. In fact, both the EU and Canada have restricted the use of retinol—the EU cites a “precautionary principle,” which means that if an ingredient has shown evidence of danger to human health or the environment, it takes preventative action.

While vitamin A and its derivatives have been shown to have protective and therapeutic skin properties when used properly, our decision not to formulate with retinol/vitamin A or its derivatives is based on our extensive scientific research and evaluation.

Research on retinol and its derivatives shows:

  • Most common adverse effects from topical use are skin irritations including redness, excessive desquamation (skin peeling), and sensitization to sunlight 1.
  • On its Skin Deep Database 2, the Environmental Working Group assigned retinol and its derivatives, retinyl palmitate, retinyl acetate, and retinyl linoleate, a rating of 9 on its hazard scale, linking safety concerns such as skin irritation and sun sensitivity 3. Click here to learn more.
  • As a precaution, topical application of retinol and retinoic acid should be avoided by pregnant women and women planning to become pregnant.
  • Due to its photochemical instability, sunscreen is required while using products containing retinol or its derivatives or use should be avoided during the daytime.
  • Too much retinol can be harmful: the main supplier for retinol in the cosmetics industry recommends usage not to exceed 0.1% due to its potential for skin sensitivity 4.

Remember our skin is our largest organ so let’s all take good care of it.

Here’s to clean beauty and aging gracefully,

xoxo NBC
