Switching to Safer Nail Polish

Best-Non-toxic-Nail-Polish for adults and kids

I love getting my nails done! Manicures, pedicures, you name it, I am in! So if you are like me and want some safer options for your next nail appointment, here are some of my favorite brands that are cleaner and healthier for all of us.

Base Coat Nail Polish

This is at top of mind right now because we have a brand new Nordstrom that opened in my town last week. Inside the new Nordstrom is a non-toxic nail salon called Base Coat. You had me at non-toxic nails at Nordstrom, so of course, I wanted to check it out.

My daughter Blaine and I booked an appointment together and asked some questions about the brand. Base Coat was started by two women in 2013 when they opened the first-ever non-toxic nail salon in Denver, Colorado. Base Coat Nail Salon products are made in the USA, Leaping Bunny Certified, vegan, gluten and cruelty-free.

Blaine and I loved hearing more about the company and its commitment to clean beauty. Bravo! We will be back soon for nail and shopping time. The perfect combo!

Cote safe nail polish

Next up on my list of favorite safe nail brands is Côte. Not only is Côte one of the cleanest nail polishes available, but they also advocate for the cleanest safest beauty standards along with Beautycounter. Leading the way for change all the way to Washington, DC, to lobby for more health-protective laws for our loved ones. That’s what I’m talking about! Côte has a very popular salon in Los Angeles if you are ever visiting and need a great manicure or pedicure.

Zoya safe nail polish

One of my other go-to nail brands is Zoya. My nail salon in Westport, CT (POSH) carries this safer brand and I really like the polish. Blaine also likes it!

Zoya safe nail polish

Zoya is a vegan brand and is also considered a 10-free nail polish brand. 10-free means free of the following chemicals: formaldehyde, toluene, DBP, camphor, TPHP, parabens, xylene, formaldehyde resin, ethyl tosylamide and lead.

I also really like and enjoy using Priti NYC. Priti NYC nail polishes are named after flowers. Their nail polish is always 10-free, vegan, cruelty and gluten-free, plus they’re made in the USA. Priti NYC also makes my favorite clean nail polish remover because it feels so good on the nails, like an oil. 🙂

Piggy Paint nail polish for kids

Lastly, do not forget the little girls. My favorite is Piggy Paint. When Blaine was smaller this was our go-to. They have so many fun and playful color choices for little girls. It chips easily which is why it is best just for the little ones. Very fun!

I hope this round-up of safer, cleaner nail polish brands helps you when you are looking to reduce your toxic load. If you use other brands that you like, please pass them on. I always love learning more.

Cheers to clean beauty!
