A Special Mother-Daughter Getaway to Charleston

As our kids get older, the time we spend together becomes even more meaningful. That’s why our recent mother-daughter trip to Charleston was so special for me and Blaine. It wasn’t just about seeing a great city—it was about slowing down, reconnecting, and making memories we’ll both hold onto. Time is precious!

Charleston was the perfect backdrop. It’s charming, walkable, full of history, and just the right mix of fun and relaxing. We walked down the beautiful streets, tried new foods (GRITS!), browsed boutiques, and soaked in that sweet Southern hospitality.

Our trip wasn’t packed with activities, it didn’t need to be. The real highlight was the time together. Long talks, shared laughs, and quiet moments that reminded me how important it is to be intentional about this kind of time.

If you’ve been thinking about planning a trip with your daughter, Charleston is a wonderful place to go. Whether she’s a tween, a teen, or a young adult, you’ll find plenty to do, see, and enjoy together—and you’ll come home with full hearts and unforgettable memories.

Where we stayed: Hotel Bennett is fabulous, plus it’s the only rooftop pool in the city.

Favorite restaurant for dinner: Magnolias is hands down our favorite dinner spot.

Where we shopped: so many great stores up and down King Street, be sure to find Harvest Moon Home, a hidden gem.

Best way to get around: Pedi Cabs, also known as Bike Taxis. No better way to see the sights and get around!

Favorite breakfast, coffee, and matcha spot: La Patisserie.

Best ice cream spot: Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream on King Street.

Make your own hat experience: Marsh & Magnolia.

Fun activity: Horse and carriage tour at Palmetto Carriage Works.

One additional note, Charleston is also a great location for a family trip, which we did in 2022 for our family spring break.

Here’s to spending more time in the Low Country!

xoxo Nina
