As I step into this new season of becoming an empty nester, I keep reminding myself of this truth: two things can be true at once.
We can be sad and happy at the same time. Sad to see our kids leave home, but happy they’re ready to spread their wings.

We can be proud and uneasy at the same time. Proud of who they’ve become, yet uneasy about what life looks like without the daily rhythm of raising them.
We can be grateful and grieving at the same time. Grateful for all the moments we’ve shared together, yet grieving the season that is ending.

We can feel loss and excitement, all in the same breath.
This isn’t about choosing one feeling over the other — it’s about giving ourselves permission to hold both. That’s the beauty of this stage: learning that the heart is big enough for all of it.

So if you’re walking through change like we are — whether it’s sending kids off to boarding school or college, starting a new chapter, or saying goodbye to something familiar — remember this: two things can be true. And that’s okay. In fact, it’s what makes us human.
Thanks for reading this. Here’s to this next beautiful chapter!
