Taking Steps to Honor Capalbo Strong

Honor Capalbo Strong

Happy end of summer! Hope you’ve all enjoyed some great weather and made some great memories this summer. I know we have!

My apologies that I have not been blogging much this summer. But I did release some new Podcast episodes so hopefully, you have listened to some of my new interviews. Thank you for supporting positive content!

Speaking of staying positive, my favorite positive people (the Capalbo family) are doing a big thing this fall, and I want to share it here with all of you.

Capalbo family

As I have shared before on April 24th, we lost our favorite hockey goalie Charlie Capalbo after a courageous battle with cancer. We have missed him every day since he passed, and we have all tried to live and love like Charlie.

On October 2nd, Charlie’s family and friends are honoring him in a meaningful way that Charlie would want.

We are walking in the Dana Farber Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon Walk.

I asked Charlie’s beautiful mom, Jenny Capalbo, to share more about why this walk is so important.

This is how Jenny explains it, in her words:

The Dana Farber Jimmy Fund Boston Marathon Walk is incredibly meaningful because it helps us to keep some of the promises we made to Charlie before he passed away. We assured him that we would keep moving forward, not allowing grief to keep us down – training for the walk forces us to get outside and stay healthy.

It even more importantly helps us on our lifelong mission to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. For this event, all proceeds go directly toward research on pediatric leukemia in Dr. Scott Armstrong’s lab, where Charlie’s primary oncologist, Dr. Wallace Bourgeois works. Fun fact: Wallace will be walking with us, his wife, and their baby!

In addition, the walk unites friends and family from near and far, throughout our training period and for the actual event weekend as well – Charlie lived for connecting people, and we are certain he’ll be smiling down on all of us on walk day.

Jenny always says it best! Special thank you to Charlie’s parents, Jenny and Anthony, as well as Charlie’s amazing brother Will and Charlie’s beautiful girlfriend Peyton, for leading the Capalbo Strong team on October 2nd from Boston.

If you’d like to donate to our team and support this walk in honor of Charlie, please consider donating here. Every dollar counts! If you’d like to join our team and sign up to walk with us, please do so on this link as well. You can walk from ANYWHERE, and you can pick the distance that works best for you!

Charlie Capalbo memory

I will be walking the 5K distance remotely on October 2nd since I will be at a hockey rink with my children that day. We all can’t wait for October 2nd to keep up Charlie’s fight and honor him in a way that we know he would truly love! Every step we take that day will be a step for Charlie.

Enjoy the rest of your summer,
