Having skin cancer means learning about safe sun protection the hard way. I wish I had done some things differently in my younger years, but here we are. One thing that really helps protect us from the sun is wearing a hat. My amazing dermatologist at Yale, Dr. David Leffell, advises wearing a wide brim hat.

It’s time to think about spring break!
As I sit here on snow day number three in Connecticut, I’m looking forward to lots of sunshine and beach time on our spring break in Florida.
Some of you know I have skin cancer, and I have to be very careful when I’m out in the sun. This is why I am always on the hunt for stylish UPF clothing, and one of my favorite brands is Cabana Life. I’m excited to share my collaboration with this awesome company.

With summer comes lots of fun times outside with friends and family. And since we live on the beach in coastal Connecticut, we spend most of our summer outdoors.
As I have shared with you all before, I have skin cancer, so I need to be extra careful when I’m in the sun. I am always looking for stylish but safe UPF clothing brands to protect my skin from further damage. Although I’ve tried several different types of UPF clothing brands, one of the brands that I love for myself and for my kids is Cabana Life.
It seems we have fast tracked into summer with sunny and hot days already here.
Since I am a skin cancer gal, I am NOT able to lay out in the sun or get any color from the sun. Basically the sun hates me. But the problem is I love having color and getting a “tan” or a summer glow. The good news is I can get that whole look from some of my go-to’s from Beautycounter. Here is my triple threat for a faux glow: Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer, Glow Shimmer Oil and Color Contour Matte Bronzer.
Sunscreen, sunscreen and more sunscreen. Yes, I am crazy about sunscreen!
For those who know me probably know that I have skin cancer, so wearing sunscreen is a must for me! All day, every day—no matter if you’re just out running errands, taking a walk outside, heading to the park with your kids, or going to the pool or the beach. Putting on sunscreen is second nature to me and my children—I don’t leave my house without it!
Now you may be saying to yourself, “I am all for sunscreen, but I just hate how it’s sticky and leaves white residue behind. Plus, it doesn’t work well under makeup.” If that’s your concern, then I have just the solution you’re looking for.
